Writing therapy is a form of expressive and reflective writing, either self-generated or suggested by a therapist or researcher. It is considered therapeutic due to its focus on self-expression. Lauren Garvey, a counselor and facilitator at Cancer Wellness at Piedmont, suggests writing a letter to oneself, expressing one's feelings, appreciations, and areas for improvement. However, this communication can be challenging due to the need for compassion and may become insincere, making it easier to quit writing.
